Govt. Mining Organizations in Myanmar | Myanmar Mining | Investment in Myanamr

Ministry of Mines, Myanmar Govt. Mining Enterprises and Departments

In Myanmar, the Ministry of Mines is the Government Regulatory Authority responsible for formulating and implementing government policy, mining laws, rules and regulations in mining sector. Under previous government, the Ministry of Mines also got directly involved in prospecting, exploration and mining activities. Currently, under Ministry of Mines, there are six enterprises and two departments:

Government Mining Organizations in Myanmar

  • No (1) Mining Enterprise – Responsible for mining, production and marketing of Antimony, Lead, Zinc, Silver, Iron, Titanium and Copper ores.

  • No (2) Mining Enterprise – Responsible for mining, production and marketing of Gold, Platinum, Tin, Tungsten, Molybdenum, Niobium, Columbium, Heavy minerals.

  • No (3) Mining Enterprise – Responsible for productions and supply of industrial raw minerals such as Barites, Bauxite, Bentonite, Gypsum, Limestone, Dolomite, Clay, Manganese and Coals.

  • Myanmar Gems Enterprise – Responsible for mining and marketing of various precious gem stones and jade.

  • Myanmar Salt & Marine Chemical Enterprise – Responsible for production and marketing of salt, marine chemical and soda ash.

  • Myanmar Pearl Enterprise – Responsible for breeding, cultivating and production of pearls

  • Dept. of Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration (DGSE) – Responsible for country wide geological mapping, mineral prospecting and exploring minerals

  • Department of Mines – Responsible for administration of mineral policy and planning mineral legislation, mine inspection and safety, mineral conservation and environmental conservation.
