2013 Onshore Blocks Bidding in Myanmar | Myanmar Oil & Gas Industry | Investment in Myanamr

Myanmar Oil & Gas Onshore Blocks Bidding Round – 2013: Oil and Gas Exploration

On 17th January 2013 Ministry of Energy, Government of Myanmar announced Myanmar oil & gas onshore bidding round 2013. In this onshore oil and gas bidding round eighteen (18) onshore blocks were tendered. To bid for these Myanmar oil and gas onshore blocks, partnership with a local Myanmar company was mandatory. Many foreign companies submitted Expression of Interest (EOI) for these onshore blocks; and fifty nine (59) companies were pre-qualified. Out of these fifty nine pre-qualified companies, twenty two (22) companies submitted proposals for 2013 Myanmar Oil and Gas Onshore Bidding Round. On 17th October 2013, Ministry of Energy awarded 18 onshore blocks. The following table gives detail of the onshore oil and gas blocks which was awarded in the 2013 round of bidding. The table also provides the names of the foreign companies who own onshore blocks in Myanmar.

Majority of the companies, who have not been awarded any onshore block, may be interested in farm-in options in farm-in / farm-out in Myanmar oil and gas blocks. In 2013, along with onshore blocks, Myanmar Government also announces bidding round for shallow water and deep water blocks.
